“NEVER SOLD CRACK” @ The Darkroom (6/10)

I am proud to announce that I will be performing amongst some of Chi-city’s elite microphone conductors @ The Darkroom (Chicago, IL) on Thursday, June 10th!

My good friend and fellow musician, VISUAL, invited me down to be a part of the “Never Sold Crack” tour.  This particular show has some very talented MC’s out of Chi-city who bring lyrical skill to the table in a heavy way.  We also have a group from Detroit that will be in the building reppin’ the Motor City!

The line up includes:

SCHEME (Molemen Records)

QUE BILLA

ABRASIVE METHOD (out of Detroit)

VISUAL

I’ll be on the decks along side special guest DJ ASIATIC to set the tone for the night with hip hop flowing through the speakers all night!

This line up is filled with talent so I do hope to see some familiar and new faces out for this one.  Support not only Chicago artists, but good music as a whole.

This is event is scheduled to start @ 9pm CST w/ an entrance fee of $7.  This is a 21+ yr old event as well.

If you NEVER SOLD CRACK this event has your name written all over it!

Much peace,

DJ Scend

CRB says F-U BP

Normally I try to concentrate at problems at home, but I stumbled upon these images and am just disturbed.  I know I’ve seen this on CNN, and other news channels, but the way these pictures were taken just hits me.  This is a mess that was clearly BP’s fault, and they are finger pointing, while the rest of us suffer.

I am glad to live in an age where we can receive news on the fly, but come on…therefore I am reposting these images so our fan base can see what we are dealing with, and I’d like to personally put more pressure on BP to just shut their mouth, take the blame and responsibility.  It is your fault.

If these pictures don’t make you mad, this will:  According to sources government officials will quadruple taxes on oil.  Idiot Senator Harry Reid says Taxpayers will not pay these taxes…who does this guy think he is?  Who else is going to pay?

Pete Rock Tribute Mix! D/L it here FREE

After my G.U.R.U. Tribute mix from March got so much love an recognition I decided to keep on with a monthly tribute mix to show my love and respect to artists/producers who not only have a personal impact on my musical journey, but who have made some serious impact to music in general.

Last night I did an all Pete Rock Tribute Mix that you can download for FREE by clicking HERE

Pete Rock is one of the most influential producer/dj’s in my life next to DJ Premier.  Soul Brother #1 is best known for his early work with C.L. Smooth from the 90′s, but does not end there.  He has countless credits for remixes and original joints for artists such as Nas, Redman, The Notorious B.I.G. & Das Efx to name a few.

I do my monthly tribute mixes every 1st Wednesday of the month on my Hump Day Mixshow.  The June tribute mix will pay respect to A Tribe Called Quest so be on the lookout for that to air LIVE on Wednesday, June 2nd!

Aerias – Me and My Girl

Aerias getting sensitive!  Hell yea, I dig this chill joint.  It’s fun, and you can still be gangsta listening to it.  Download it here

Alex Ludvico (formerly ILL Eagle the MC)  just released his new cd entitled “Winning / Losing” which is an experimental series of rhyming meets downtempo, some dubstep, and offbeat.   He’s come a long way and his work is showing it.  Download his album here

VISUAL – We Gonna Fly

So I had the honor of meeting and working with VISUAL back in January of this year to practice for an art gallery performance we were both booked for.  I had always known about his music since he did a lot with various Chicago artists that I already knew but never met him in person.  His music reflects his personality to the fullest.  He makes positive hip hop and does a great job at it.  What I mean by that is that his lyrics aren’t all about how much money he makes or how many girls he brings home from the clubs because that’s not his lifestyle.  He’s a family man with some strong goals and visions and the music he makes definitely has that influence.  We have worked on a few things such as him being a guest on my Hump Day Mixshow and I look forward to working on some projects in the near future with this man!

His official track record and artists he has worked with is pretty extensive so you can check out his website by clicking HERE to get all his latest news, event info and random thoughts

WMC

About a week ago (maybe two) I left a post promising updates on a few things that have happened in my life, because I know EVERYONE is interested in my adventures.  SO, let me get to making good on that promise.  I don’t want to make this long 9because i want you to read it, so, I will keep it short… I will start with Winter Music Conference (WMC).  This is an event that takes place one per year in South Beach, FL.  I make it a point to attend every year.  Big up to everyone who was able to attend this year.  This is a conference for music lovers.  People from all over the world congregate in South Beach to listen to, showcase, and/or lecture about various aspects of the music industry. The important question would be to ask me how many workshops I have attended… (Not 1).  If you are anything like I am, broke, you probably use this weekend as a get away and a chance to network.  I would say that the general consensus is this year’s Conference was a bit LIGHT in attendance….

Let me get to the point.  I Had an awesome time Dj’ing, networking, and simply hanging out.  Having the opportunity to play along with, and get to know people you admire does something for your spirit and creativity.  So, I must name drop (Salah, Khemit, Sean Alverez, Zo!, Black Coffee, Jazzy Jeff, Rich Medina, Sony Dayze, Rozzie Daime, Self Born, Joe Kollege, Louie Vega,… AND THE LIST GOES ON).  Imagine having the opportunity to chose a place to be that will play your favorite music located on a beach with the ocean as it’s backdrop, mild weather, and beautiful people. Here’s an added plus:  You know those guys (usually dj’s) who stand around and have nothing but negative things to say about EVERYTHING (blends, song selection, woops the music stopped for a second)?  Well, here those guy (losers) are at Wet Willies sucking their thumbs.  If you cannot tell,  WMC is the perfect vacation.  Expensive, but perfect. I strongly recommend everyone make this trip at least once in their lives.  THIS IS NOT SPRING BREAK (there will be a few of those people there though).  make sure you plan ahead for this trip, and make sure to travel with friends who like to keep it moving, but know how to conduct themselves…

That is all.
