The first time I saw a DJ battle was during the Qbert era, the golden age of hip hop. 1995. I remember going to the skratchpiklz forums, learning from the beatjunkies, bulletproof hamsters, etc. That was what got me into djing, the fact that you can use it as an instrument. Who knew you could do that with two turntables and a mixer?
The only problem was that I didn’t have enough money to buy that equipment. Nevertheless it didn’t stop me from doing dj like things such as taking a dual tape karaoke machine, and trying to make a mix out of that. I also found out that if you pressed lightly on the Fast Forward key, it sounded like a scratch. Sorry dad, I ruined your Neil Diamond record as well…it was me, not my brother.
I finally purchased my first set of tables which was one of those package deals. The Gemini DDR 50′s, with NuMark Mixer. It was a piece of crap. But that’s what I started on, and am damn proud of it to this day. Now, I’m a little older, little wiser, and rock some technics, ttm-57 sl, and a mean collection of tracks that makes people remember the golden age of music.

Thanks for the comment! I try haha
